All Aboard: Welcome to Montauk Bus

Since its inception in 1972, Montauk Bus has provided efficient and affordable transportation to students across mid and eastern Long Island. The goal of the company has been - and continues to be - to serve its affiliated agencies, school districts, and municipalities with safe and reliable service. Seeded in its establishment and amplified through COVID, safety has always been Montauk Bus’s priority. Montauk Bus continues to update and adhere to guidelines and regulations to ensure our riders, employees, and families are protected and enjoy the ride.

Founded by John Mench in a small town of Suffolk County, Montauk Bus began its journey with five buses, fueled by honesty, family values, and trust. After Mench’s passing in 2011, the company’s legacy was taken over by Linda Plourde and family. Today, the staff has proudly grown to over 400 employees and over 300 buses, effectively transporting about 30,000 students each academic year. Montauk Bus is ever-evolving, employing the highest safety standards and innovative technology to provide all transportation needs.

Regardless of its size, Montauk Bus is run like a small company. While it has grown immensely, the morality and values have remained the same, and are continuously upheld by Montauk Bus employees. We are family-oriented, and our employees are treated as such. Our decades of success are attributed to the dedication and commitment of our workers. Without our employees, our buses don’t move. On average, 50% or more of one’s life is spent working; we express our gratitude to our Montauk Bus family for their devotion and for choosing us.
